What is the difference between the Senate and the House of Representatives?
参议院（The Senate）
参议院是澳大利亚议会的两个议院之一。另一个议院是众议院（House of Representatives）。参议院也被 称为上议院。参议员由澳大利亚人民在联邦选举中选举产生。
职责（Role）
参议院由 76 名参议员组成。
其中，每个州由 12 名参议员代表，每个领地由 2 名参议员代表。
在参议院中：

参议员代表澳大利亚人民的观点，并就国内和国际重大事务进行讨论。

通过对法案（即拟议法律）进行辩论和投票，制定和修改国家法律。任何法案必须以完全相同的形式获得参议院和众议院的通过，并由总督（Governor-General）签署后，才能正式成为法律。
